Dear Residents and Esteemed Visitors
Welcome to the Municipality of San Benito, a place where the echoes of history meet the promises of the future. As the proud mayor of this vibrant island town nestled in the heart of the Republic of the Philippines, in the CARAGA Region XIII Province of Surigao del Norte, I am delighted to extend a heartfelt greeting to each one of you.
Our story, rooted in the late 19th Century, resonates with the spirit of resilience and community. Initially a settlement tended to by the Benedictine Monks, San Benito’s transformation from Sitio Talisay to its present glory as a municipality in 1971 is a testament to the dreams and determination of our forefathers. The lush Talisay trees that once graced our land symbolize our deep connection with nature and the rich cultural heritage we cherish.
Today, San Benito stands as a thriving hub where tradition dances harmoniously with progress. Our municipality, encompassing six barangays, including the beautiful Sitio Campingganon in Brgy. Maribojoc, is not just a place on the map; it’s a sanctuary of sustainable initiatives and budding opportunities. We take immense pride in our socio-economic endeavors, particularly the revival of the Seaweeds Industry, a testament to our commitment to environmental conservation and community empowerment.
Warmest Regards,
Mayor Ma. Gina S. Menil
